What the video says, as recorded in November 2026. Where it differs from the product page, the product page is current.

Meet Birdbrain, the AI study companion that actually does the math. Take a photo of tonight’s homework, and in seconds Birdbrain knows the subject, the topic, and exactly what you are up against. A photo, a PDF, the slides, or a recording of the lecture. Birdbrain reads them all.

From that one photo it builds a deck of flashcards, a study guide, and a practice quiz, with every equation typeset properly instead of mangled. Take the quiz, and it marks itself, right or wrong, with the reason.

Stuck on a problem? Ask for the steps. Birdbrain walks you through it one line at a time, so you learn the method instead of copying an answer.

Meet Kati, your study buddy. Ask anything about the assignment, and Kati explains it in plain words. Ask Kati to write your essay, and the answer is no. Then Kati helps you write it yourself.

Big test coming? Give Birdbrain the topics and the date. It runs a pretest, finds your weak spots, builds a day by day plan, and watches your scores climb.

Study with friends in a Study Room. Everyone works from the same materials, and Kati is in the room to explain the hard parts.

Every session builds your streak. Sixteen badges, weekly leagues, and a twelve week map of your work keep you coming back.

And when you are done being serious, flip on Rot Mode. Same brain, unhinged attitude.

Birdbrain is on the App Store, and your first ten credits are free. Scan it. Understand it. Practice it. Ace it, together. Birdbrain.

Sound familiar?

It’s 10 p.m. You’ve read problem 7 four times. The answer key in the back of the book says x = 4, and nothing else. Your notes stop halfway through the example, the group chat has gone quiet, and the test is on Friday. You don’t need the answer. You need to see how anyone gets there.

Birdbrain shows every line of the working, then asks you to explain it back.

  • Snap the page, and about 15 seconds later it knows the subject, topic and level.
  • Hints, worked steps and Kati’s questions turn an answer key into a method you can use on Friday.

Features

What Birdbrain does for you.

Photo in, study kit out

One photo becomes a whole study kit.

A photo, a PDF, the slides or a recording of the lecture: Birdbrain reads them all. About 15 seconds later it knows the subject, topic and level, and you can fix anything it misread before it builds your flashcards, practice quiz or study guide.

  • Any format. Take a photo or pick one from your gallery, upload a PDF, Word, PowerPoint or Excel file, paste text or record the lecture. Transcription is free.
  • Built from your work. Flashcards, a practice quiz that grades itself, and a study guide with key terms, concepts and worked examples.
  • Yours to keep. Save anything to your history and reopen it for free, or email it to yourself.

It shows the working

Every line of the working, not just the answer.

Stuck on a problem? Ask for the steps and Birdbrain walks you through it one line at a time, so you learn the method instead of copying an answer. Not ready for the whole solution? Ask for a hint, or have it check the answers you already wrote.

  • Seven ways to get unstuck. Explain Problem, Step-by-Step, Get Hints, Similar Examples, Check Answers, Find Errors and Grade Work.
  • Math that looks like math. Fractions, integrals, exponents and chemical formulas, typeset properly instead of mangled.
  • From ratios to Calc II. Sixth-grade unit rates, high-school stoichiometry and college integration by parts.

Test-day plans and group study

A plan that starts with what you don’t know.

Big test coming? Give Birdbrain the topics and the date. It runs a pretest, finds your weak spots and builds a day-by-day plan around them, then progress quizzes show your Test Readiness climbing. In our demo run it went from 10% to 50%.

  • Pretest first. Questions on every topic, with your results broken down by topic.
  • Weak spots first. A day-by-day schedule with minutes and tasks, weighted toward the topics you missed.
  • Study with friends. In a Study Room every message is checked before it posts. Start one with @Kati and she answers for the whole room.

How it works

Birdbrain in four steps.

  1. Get Help screen with Take Photo, Gallery, Audio, Paste Text and Upload File

    Step 1: Scan it

Take a photo of the assignment, or bring in a PDF, Word, PowerPoint or Excel file, pasted text or a recorded lecture.

  2. Analysis complete: subject Chemistry, topic Stoichiometry, high school level

    Step 2: Birdbrain reads it

About 15 seconds later it names the subject, topic and level. Fix anything it misread before you go on.

  3. Help options: Explain Problem, Step-by-Step, Get Hints and Similar Examples

    Step 3: Pick your help

Flashcards, a practice quiz or a study guide. Or hints, worked steps and answer checks, problem by problem.

  4. Chat with Kati: a student asks which box is the better deal, 12 oz for $3.60 or 20 oz for $5.60. Kati works out the price per ounce, asks the student to explain why dividing works, and the student explains it back.

    Step 4: Explain it back

Chat with Kati about the same assignment. She explains it in plain words, then asks you to teach it back to her.

Progress and motivation

A reason to open it tomorrow.

Every session builds your streak, and XP, weekly leagues and 16 badges make steady studying feel like winning. You choose who sees your progress.
  • Daily streaks

Study a little each day to keep the flame going. Your activity map shows the last twelve weeks at a glance.

  • Weekly leagues

Earn XP as you study and climb the weekly leaderboard from Bronze to Platinum. Leagues reset every week.

  • 16 badges

From First Steps to Monthly Master, in six categories.

  • Weekly goals

Set targets for sessions, quizzes and minutes.

  • Progress reports

Send a progress report to a parent, tutor or teacher. You choose who gets it.

Illustrated with sample data.

Trust

What you can count on.

  • Feedback, not ghostwriting.

Ask Kati to write the essay and the answer is no. The Writing Tutor coaches instead, with strengths-first feedback and sentence frames.

  • Study Rooms are checked before anything posts.

Every message is screened before anyone sees it, and the owner controls the join code. Kati keeps chats on the assignment and points anyone who seems upset to a trusted adult.

  • No ads, no sign‑up, easy to leave.

No ads, ever, and no password to create on iPhone. Progress reports go only to people your student adds, and Delete Account in Settings removes the account and its data.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Still curious? Talk to us

Will it just do my homework?

It will show a full worked solution when you ask for the steps, one line at a time, because seeing every line is how you learn a method. Everything else is built to make you do the thinking: hints nudge without solving, and Kati asks you to explain the idea back. Ask Kati to write your essay and the answer is no: the Writing Tutor gives feedback and fill-in frames so you write it yourself.

Use it to learn, not to hand in its work as your own. Your school’s honesty rules still apply.

How is this different from ChatGPT?

A general chatbot starts from an empty box. Birdbrain starts from your assignment: snap it and it reads the subject, topic and level, then turns it into flashcards, a practice quiz, a study guide or worked steps with typeset math.

It is also built to teach. Kati is a study buddy who stays on your homework and asks you to explain it back, the Writing Tutor won’t ghostwrite, and Study Plans build your schedule from a pretest of your weak spots.

Who sees my chats?

Your chats with Kati and the Writing Tutor aren’t shared with other students. Messages in a Study Room are seen by that room’s members, and every one is checked before it posts. There is no teacher or parent dashboard: a parent, tutor or teacher sees your progress only if you send them a report.

To answer you, what you submit is processed by our AI provider and stored by our hosting provider. The Birdbrain privacy policy lists exactly what is collected. To delete everything, open Settings and choose Delete Account.

What does it cost?

Birdbrain is free to download, needs no sign-up or password on iPhone, and starts you with 10 free credits. AI features use credits, and the app shows what each action costs. Credit packs are 100 for $0.99, 600 for $4.99 or 1,500 for $9.99, and Birdbrain Pro is $19.99 a month with a monthly credit allowance. Lecture transcription is free, reopening saved work is free, and there are no ads.

What grades and subjects does it work for?

Birdbrain is built for middle school through college. It works from whatever you scan, in any subject, and it typesets math and science properly: from sixth-grade ratios to high-school stoichiometry and Calculus II integration by parts. The Writing Tutor pitches its feedback to the grade level you choose.

What is Brain Rot Mode?

One switch in Settings, and the whole app talks like a group chat. Kati gets very online and the menus get renamed: Get Help becomes Get That W, and the Writing Tutor becomes the Rizz Coach. Every feature works exactly the same, and the switch turns it off again.

Why is it called Birdbrain on the App Store?

Birdbrain is the new name for Power Student: the same study app, with a new name and a new owl icon. Search “Birdbrain” on the App Store to find it.

Scan it. Study it. Ace it.
